I love Saga, but some factions have some really goofy "folklore" that mak playability laughable- maybe that was the intent (thinking IRISH HERE) and Norse Gael (Viking) Strathclyde Norse (Viking) JomViking (Viking) and Viking (which are -wait for it- Viking). I have also acquired Lion Rampant, I really like them too. Now Dragon Rampant is "on the wing" so Lord of the Rings with believable amount of soldiers on my dining room table with a bottle or two of wine. Problem is I really can't like one above the other unless I'm going later into the feudal period. Then LR is the obvious choice. What are you guys using for crusades 1st and 3rd? Saga or LR? Feudal imagi-nations are a must for LR.

There's a dark age variant of LR in a war games illustrated, I believe . In fact you can probably get away with using it straight from the tin. You may need a few extra figures for a 24 point game though
We used LR for Wars of the Roses with Perry figures.

I did not think Saga was intended to be Historic
