On the move, you say….Ah, I see; so it's going to be held in the backs of a half dozen tractor-trailers racing high speed down the PA Turnpike Mad-Max style. I wonder how may 6'x 10' tables a semi holds? |

Oh, goody ! More rumors ! Or maybe just wishes… Not the Pa Turnpike…the Jersey Turnpike…naval games will be played in the water-filled potholes… |

capncarp | 18 Nov 2015 2:51 p.m. PST |
In keeping with Pennsylvania's status as being near the demographic center of the HMGS, I propose the convention be balanced on the seat of a 50cc motorcycle jumping the PA Grand Canyon at Wellsboro. In the eye of a hurricane. While conjuring the spirit of Jeff Davis by reciting the Gettysburg Address backwards. In Ancient Aramaic. |

it's going to be held in the backs of a half dozen tractor-trailers racing high speed down the PA Turnpike Mad-Max style. This would be infinitely more entertaining than some of the obviously unplaytested games I jumped into this past Historicon that were either unbalanced or a snoozefest. |

I have just come from the hairdressers, so can now give some reliable information. Ignore all the prats and their funny ha ha jokes. Starting in 2017, Historicon will be held in the basement of Mrs. Muskrat Proven of 28 Wimpole Street, Salisbury, MD. Admission will include thee meals daily, each comprised of green bean casserole with pigs in a blanket. Parking in the 3 car garage will be first come first served. Alternat eparking will be located in nearby Bel Air, MD. |

Psst…got the real dope..It's going to be held in Maine! In some shack in the woods. In a dark forest. The guy hosting goes by the name of Love-something or other…. Says it will be the best con ever…with the main event being "Cu-something or other Rising", Eh, sounds like a fantasy event to me… |
HMS Exeter | 19 Nov 2015 9:56 a.m. PST |
No, no, no, you've all got it wrong. Only I have the straight dope. HMGS(E) has quietly purchased the demilitarized HMS Ark Royal. They are having her towed to the US Eastern Seaboard. Each July it will be moved to a new east coast port and docked. The flight deck will be used for parking and fair weather gaming. The hanger deck will be all gaming. Fast food vendors will take over the galley. Accommodations spaces will be cheap rented to gamers to stay on site. Each Sunday morning Red Bull will be sponsoring a flugtag competition off the jump ramp. Each state may have 3 entries. Best distance wins the con for a port in their state the following year. At least it will be one way to acquaint gamers with the cleansing effects of water,…as long as we aren't docked in the East River. The theory is that everyone will stay, if for no other reason, to see their favorite TMP adversaries going into the drink. It's the sort of idea that, if it isn't true, it sure oughtta be. This brief interlude of insanity is concluded. You will now be returned to you regularly programmed insanity. |

HMS Ark Royal We're going to play on the bottom of the sea? I guess I better start looking into renting Scuba Gear and flights to Spain. Are they still up in arms again trying to charge an entry fee to Gibraltar? |

You're not going to have it in the back of a semi trailer. They are 8 feet wide. 6 feet of the table, leave a foot on either side. I mean, are there very many gamers that could actually fit between the table and the side of the semi. |

civildisobedience | 20 Nov 2015 11:37 a.m. PST |
I find it amusing that this thread consists of 36 posts of utter nonsense, straining to ridicule anyone who expresses dissatisfaction with the current location of Historicon, and not one from anyone doing just that. It is a depressing commentary on the quality of discourse around here. But, by all means, continue to hurl pointless nonsense around. I'd wager a few people manage to feel superior somehow, for being "above" the petty resentments of the way the convention was moved (though not above foolish mockery). I'd submit that if the long threads discussing well-tread material about the convention moves are tiresome, the endless, pointless, posts mocking the debate itself are well beyond tiresome, as they are actually about nothing whatsoever. |
Winston Smith | 20 Nov 2015 3:36 p.m. PST |
If there WERE a viable alternative, we would be there now. I don't think the official "search for a new venue" team are stupid, lazy or corrupt. They are stuck with a range of C+ to B- choices that will never please everybody. My requirements are not your requirements. For me it's too far to make a solo drive, so I just don't go and don't obsess about it. If it was in a convenient location for me I would be tickled pink. But it's not. C'est la guerre. |

Just more PsyOps and maskirovka by the OP, who never fails to entertain, both here on TMP and in person. For the record, my understanding is that Historicon is booked for 2016 and 2017 in VA. Hope to see you there. P.S.--I also enjoyed the "Stripes" reference. |
