I just finished a two-day marathon of Martian Empires games(we did scenario 3 twice to learn the game, and then did the Lord Palmerston). I loved the movement, but by the end of a couple of hours, constantly adding and subtracting all the fire, combat, and fallback values wore us down.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to streamline figuring fire and combat factors, to speed things along and make it less like a series of addition/subtraction exercises? Anyone use an alternate combat/fire system?

1) Two day marathons wear ANYBODY down!

2) Recently got ME and V&S&F at the same time, and have been enjoying reading though not playing yet, but have only glanced at ME. You've verified a suspicion I had, but nothing I don't think would 'wear me down.'

That said, I was REALLY hoping you'd gotten an answer by now just in case I need similar help.

By the way, what 'larger venue' VSF have you played? Battles by G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T.?

I actually consider Battle by… 'mid-scale', but Chris and Buck are warming up to bat my ears as we speak. ;->=

I've a friend who thinks Epic Space Marine can be adjusted to anything, anytime, and he may be right.

Hey Lucius,
We've played quite a bit of ME
down here in Atlanta.

And as you'll see we've played some huge games.
I've tweaked the system a bit, especially in movement.
I can send you a copy of our most current
playsheet.
