I think the bottom building would look better if you added some diagonal pieces to the structure, or perhaps more vertical pieces. If you type in "half timbered" into Google and click on the images tab, you'll see lots of examples of what I'm talking about. With the squares you have now, it makes it look a little too modern, especially because they are painted red.
