Yep, for years Rick and I had been toiling away on our 15mm Warmaster armies. But very few people seemed interested. Yesterday at Treefort we pulled out the 15mm figs and used them for King of War. Suddenly everyone was coming over to see our table. Commenting on how many more figs you could get on the same size table. Ahh interest. So for anyone interested. All our figs are based on 40mm wide x 30mm deep bases. (except the war machines) 2 bases side by side was a Troop. 4 bases (2 wide 2 deep) were a Regiment. 6 bases (3 wide 2 deep) were a Horde. For Ogres, 4 bases was a horde. Rick's High Elves and Dwarves, run by Allen vs my Orcs and Troy's Lizardmen. 6000 points per side! link

I can see why people were going over for a look. That was a very impressive looking game. I am curious as to whether you changed any of the ranges for movement or shooting to compensate for the slightly smaller unit footprints? |

Great looking armies! How many armies are rated up? Thanks, John |

Hey Rusty, We kept all the movement and ranges the same. Played just fine. John, not sure what you mean by 'rated up'? |

Yes, it was a blast. This is from the person who got their flank crushed. Already looking forward to the next game. |

How many army lists are there? Do they have a DIY creation system? Thanks, John |

Who makes the elf and dwarf figures you were using? |
ajbartman | 10 Nov 2015 9:42 a.m. PST |
John, The are currently about 19 list and you can use allies. Officially, Mantic has published 11 armies with more on the way. There is no DIY system but with using allies you can create just about any army you would like. There are a few rules concerning the makeup of the army to try to balance things out. |

Thanks for the reply D6 junkie. My own 15mm Kings of War project stalled several months ago because I couldn't decide if I wanted to reduce the base sizes, so that I could play on a smaller table, or keep everything as written and increase the number of 15mm miniatures on the bases. I think I'll take another look at my project this weekend with a view to using 40x30mm bases. Thanks for the inspiration. |

Go for it Rusty! We're all pretty excited and going for another game Sunday hopefully followed by a campaign. The elves were almost all by Black Raven Forge, sold by OLDGlory15's. The dwarves are a mix of Copplestone, Essex and Demonworld |

D6, great to see. I play KOW in 15mm and had a great game the other week. I do change movement and ranges from inches to centimeters but it all works well. Strangely we also have similar basing sizes. Long live 15mm KOW!!!! |

I had a game of 15mm KoW a fortnight back. We used DBA/DBMM/DBR sized bases (40mm x 20mm foot and 40mm x 30mm for Horse). We played 1000 points on a 2' x 2' table with ranges and movement chaned to centimeters. My friend was able to use his Carolingians as Elves, while I fielded my four completed Fantasy units (2 Goblin archer troops, a Bugbear regiment and a Ogre regiment) along with some Italian Condotta standing in as Evil Men. I quite enjoyed the game – the rules are relatively simple and straight forward, though special abilities, such as Thunderous Charge, can really wreck havoc. Not having played Warhammer Fantasy, I don't know how derivative KoW is but it is a lot less complex than, say, DBR or Fields of Glory. Good fun. |

Very nice. That looks like it would have been a great game. Thanks for sharing. |

I think the best is that KoW is simple to learn but it can lead to very tense and tactical situations. I many of our games the battle is open till the last turn and it can swing back and forth. KoW is a phantastic system. its my favorite tabletop system. I played only 28mm up to now, but I also want to try 15mm and later maybe even 10mm. |

Just saw this, I am working on painting a couple 2 or 3 15mm fantasy armies, and I just have to say, This Looks GREAT! |

Great looking armies! 40mm base width is a good choice as it makes them equally usable for DBA/HOTT. I have also had success with individual washer basing and magnetic unit bases. |
