Well, I've started a campaign for Kingdom Death Monster. You can see the results of my initial showdown with the White Lion on my blog: link If you have any battle reports of your own, feel free to post them here. |

I can give a brief overview, but there's a lot that happens between showdowns. I wouldn't call it an "after game" thing, what you do with your settlement is really a huge part of the game. To start off, you draw some cards to see what resources you gain from killing the monster. Then, there are a series of steps you go through in order, and I'm going from memory so this may not all be correct or in the right order. You have a settlement event. Some of them are specific scripted events for certain years in the campaign. The first one, for example, has the survivors discover language (which is one of the Innovation cards, see below), and has you roll to see how many other survivors are in your settlement. If there isn't a specific event, then it is a random settlement event that you resolve. Each survivor that survived the fight with the monster gets one Endeavor to spend. Endeavors can be spent to create new settlement locations (which ones you are allowed to create depends on the ones you already have, and you start with a specific one). For the first year you are required to create basically a leather smith, a bone smith, and an organ smith. There are some other things you can do with an endeavor if you have certain locations. Then you craft gear. Each location has specific types of weapons, armor, and items that can be created there. Each of these has a cost in certain kinds of resources (such a bones, skins, organs, etc). So you pay your resources and receive the gear card for the gear you crafted. You can also spend an endeavor (plus some resources I think) to Innovate, which lets you draw a card from an innovation deck. There are things like inventing music as a concept. The cards in the deck are based on what innovations you already have. So the deck starts with the innovations that are based off the initial Language innovation that you start with, then grows as you get new ones. I think that covers most of it. When you're ready to go hunt the next monster, you decide which survivors are going with, and assign gear to them. The gear belongs to the settlement as a whole, not a particular survivor. |
