"Hitting theatres next June and directed by Duncan Jones, WARCRAFT: THE BEGINNING will bring a rich fantasy setting that revolves around the epic conflict between the opposing forces of the Horde and the Alliance. Travis Fimmel plays the Alliance leader Anduin Lothar while Toby Kebbell is barely recognisable under the mask of The Horde's chieftan Durotan! Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Robert Kazinsky all star too! The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home…"

Yes, I think it looks visually fantastic. I hope it is good. We have had some pretty bad movies based on fantasy games in the past.

This is being done by Blizzard so expect this to be good.

So when do the Panda's come in?

2nd or 3rd Movie?

A movie based on the flimsy fluff for a computer war game and hack&slash MMO does not bode well. A CGI fest based on cookie cutter CGI characters? Could be visually stunning but more likely just CGI cluttered and a thinly veiled marketing advert pretending to be a movie.

So, why exactly are people SURPRISED that Blizzard is using CG in their movie?

First: ITS BLIZZARD. These people have been making awesome CG movies since at least Diablo 2.

Second: Have you seen HALF the species in Warcraft? Orcs aren't just green guys with upside down vampire fangs, let alone trolls, ogres, even dwarves have a different physique in the Warcraft universe. To get crowd scenes with these people with practical effects they would have needed to have Jim Henson, Frank Oz and Ray Harrihausen working around the clock for all the time this movie was in development hell.

Points one and two respected however, I do find it strange how much CG was used on normal looking people. My problem is that it looks like the plot of Warcraft Orcs and Humans has taken another slap from the retcon stick, and also no references to Medhiv, Garona, or Sargeras in the trailer definitely confused me.
