Given that I don't think I can come up with enough unique (simple) freehand designs for my WF Vikings & Saxons, I thought I would see if any transfers had been specifically produced for them ?

Would warmly welcome any suggestions…

None come to mind, although I found that Veni, Vedi, Vici make round decals that fit pretty well.

I'm sure VVV do a sheet specifically tailored for the WF Vikings – not sure if they added a Saxon one too.

Odd – can't seem to see it on their site – should be code DD11. Might be worth emailing them.

These also fit.

the decals are slightly thinner than LBM and the classic wet style. Bit fragile but absolutely not bad at all.

Thank you for all for the responses, I'll follow up on the links.

(Albeit personally I am dubious about just how elaborate vikings painted their shields, given that I read they were probably disposable and carried a number with them!)

Yep look on the Veni Vidi Vici website. 25mm Dark Age sheets. DD11. Most are basic shapes, half shields, quarters, thirds. But the bottom row of five, are individual designs for leaders/champions. 5 different colour options.

I saw this post and wanted to add that since Warlord Games is now selling the Wargames Factory Saxons and Vikings they have started to put decal sheets in the boxes.

I have not seen these for sale separately but they look like they contain a fair number of shield designs. It could be worth an email.

I have to admit I had not heard of the German maker before (Schildschmie) linked above by WillieB but they look very nice and a good price! I am definitely going to have to try them out.
