All,
Does anyone make Perry compatible Butlers Rangers? I am looking for a figure with the brass fronted cap, uniform coat and Indian leggings.

Ram makes figures that would work, I believe.

Front Rank makes them.

RAFM?

Did he mean RSM?

Looking at the photos in the Perry catalog, I think with some minor tweaking, the infantry in Saratoga uniforms with pass muster for me. Since I'm playing Song of Drums and Tomahawks, I don't need that many.

Meant Rafm. Darned autocorrect.

Front Rank. Anything by RAFM would be "true 25mm".

spontoon05 Nov 2015 2:28 p.m. PST

RAFM doesn't make a Butlers Rangers figure.

Hinchliffe makes one pose. Here he is with a Perry mini and below that with OG & King's Mountain

Yep, that is the one I remember. I'm surprised to see it fits so well with modern figures. OOP though, correct?

Sigwald07 Nov 2015 6:37 a.m. PST

No you can still get them. If you remember the range there were some pretty suspect sculpts by today's standards but some of the poses I'm still fond of. most have pictures

As far as the brass front plate, I think newest research seems to question its use and that Butler's rangers likely wore cut down caps in the field. That or possibly whatever they wanted to, slouch hat, bonnet, etc. I used OG American light infantry with the cap brims cut off for one ranger company and they look pretty convincing.
I really like King's Mountain minis over mountain range. Their separate head options allow for all manner of woodsmen & ranger types
