Great to find some scenario play for the Russo-Swedish War (RSW) 1809.

Thanks for the post.

The two 1809 campaign books mentioned have company level OOB for many of the battles. Maps, scenario comments, historical notes, the commanders and organization of for both sides.

Grigork, good stuff that you guys are interested in the obscure stuff that happened in our country.

A nit picking detail:
Swedish batallions didn't carry two flags (like the Brits, for example, did).

Each carried one flag, but the "Kings Color" was carried by the first batallion of each regiment.

My interest has been piqued. Who makes suitable figures for the Swedes in 28mm? Can 1812 Russians be used for the 1808-1809 Russians?

Dave,

Depends on how 'historical' you want for the Russians. You need Russians in the shako, not the kiwer [scooped] shako. The Russian shako in 1808 looked a bit like the French shako.

It's a great period to game, can't remember of any Swedes in 28mm – maybe Eagle Miniatures?

Love the moose/elks as well, Grigork! What manufacturer makes them? I've got to have some for my 1788 Russo-Swedish games in Finland!!! :)

Unfortunately I don't know the make of the elks. The owner of the army had them gifted to him.

The owner of the Elks has now told me they are made by Magister Militum

The Gemigebok site (posted by Lonkka) is an amazing resource and wargames project. I remember devouring the many battle reports and scenarios when I first started reading wargames blogs.
