I'm looking for any advice that might help in building some kind of atmosphere.

I'll be the Keeper and I'm staging the game with players unused to role playing but I was hoping to try to add some added detail here and there.

Also bought some 20s music but I'm not sure how long that'll be good for 👹

Thanks in advance for any hints or tips

I would drop the 20's music and use a soundtrack. I find "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" by Atticus Ross, to be very effective.

We bought some glow sticks that we'll cut and pour over some spooky jars and bottles 😉

Beowulf : thanks for that…I'm going to check it out straight away

Look up the "dark ambient" music genre on Youtube and find some tracks you find fitting.

I wouldn't over do it unless you have really experience gamers who will pick up the rules easily. My son and I had some one run it for us at a local game store when he was ~8. Even with having to help him a little, we had a blast. He even let his crazy kleptomaniac daddy (playing a female librarian?) steal all his stuff up to his tommy gun.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I went with Beowolf's music choice and it did an excellent job of adding to the atmosphere. BTW that was good advice Russell, I did spend a lot more time looking up rules than I would have liked. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience but I'm far more ready to play it next time.

I'm glad that was helpful.
