Interesting approach but my main concern would be how well the flocking stuck to the mat after rolling, unrolling, and gaming use.

My own experience with flocked mats has been that two coats of Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement sprayed on them holds the flocking just fine. I keep mine rolled after each game. I sprayed them probably 4-5 years ago and use them about 25 times per year.

Before spraying them, they shedded a lot.

I'm the one who did the above mat and I've got to say that the flocking is holding firm. I've rolled and unrolled it about a dozen times just to see how it would work. So far so good.
