@D6 Junkie: I think you get the best FoW game when you have a rump battalion per side (2 companies of infantry, plus battalion support weapons, maybe 2 tank platoons per side). Make sure you grab the "Aces" campaigns, there are 4 of them. One Infantry Aces, one Mechanized Aces, one Armored Aces, and even one Raiding Aces. What's really cool is that the various Ace bonuses are balanced between the different settings, so you can have an Infantry Ace force facing off against a Raiding Ace. All but the Armored Aces rules are free to download, you need to buy Blood, Guts, and Glory to get Armored Aces. An Ace campaign is a slow-grow that starts off at about 500 points, then moves up from there. The Flames of WW1 setting is kinda different. Lots and lots of infantry, and 4x4 tables. The rules are really written for the mobile parts of the Great War, so 1914 and 1918. Not so sure how well they'd work with the major Trench battles, but I bet the Infantry Aces or Raiding Aces would work just fine! |
