28mm wargame involving a naval landing to destroy a confederate salt works. Salt was very important in the civil war and the destruction of confederate salt work was seen as key aim in the Union's war strategy. abcwargamers.blogspot.co.uk |

Beautiful game! We visited the Tabasco Pepper Sauce factory on Avery Island in Louisiana several years ago. Tabasco didn't start up until after the war, but they still have the ruins of the salt works a Union column out of New Orleans destroyed, so I'd been thinking about this sort of game. What rules did you use? Note that if you did Avery Island, you would want to add 'gators, so the soldiers couldn't swim off if trapped up against the edge of the island! Grelber |

Many thanks for the comments. Hi Gerlber, I did actually use 'alligators' as a surprise element – well they were the Airfix crocodiles for the safari set – only they all got shot first go which was a bit depressing as I had hoped for the very effect that you have outlined |
