Can anyone suggest 28mm figures for 1970's U.N.I.T. troops ?

They wore pale beige uniforms with a Beret and FN rifle.

TIA

Tango has the answer! Take a look at "More Army Privates with SMGs" below. They look like UNIT.

When we did them in 1/35th they were ww2 bodies with weapon and headgear conversions

There's always the blacktree dr who unit. Also, look at Crooked Dice.

How many smg's in that Blacktree box ? My references – DVDs of the 3rd Doctor- show the vast majority of troopers used the FN

Blacktree also sells the troopers individually. I thin k you'll find the FLN ones in their 4th Doctor Series.

Warlord Games recently acquired the Dr. Who Licencse, so there may well be a boxed set of plastic UNIT coming!

Now I look at the Blacktree ones, they are wrong for what I want.

The Brig is wearing a short battledress in pale beige, and all the troops in this story the same. Not the ones modelled by BT.

The ones linked above are much closer.

How about these Falklands War figures?

There are smg armed and support weapons too, and you have the option to have the figures come with a choice of heads

It looks like they still have thigh length jackets not battledress. What I see on the dvd looks more like this -

How about Warlord Plastic British Infantry with SLR's and Sterlings from TAG? I have not looked at Beret options yet but think Warlord do Commando heads with berets.

Late war Brits with beret heads is about right, but UNIT – being more of a security organisation – didn't go in much for webbing.

I am somewhat surprised that BT didn't do more with the FN.

I had a look at the Classic dotcor who Imfdb page: link

It does seem that the typical UNIT arms are FNFALs (SLR1), Sterling Sub machinegun (Machine Carbine?) and in a Silvester McCoy Episode Steyr AUGs, along with an array of Berreta, Webley, Walther, and Browning pistols.

As far as special weapons go, Bazzokas seem to be prized along with a little tiny mortar.
