I am moving soon. My family will be living with the in laws for a while. I want to make up a painting kit so I can keep working on a few projects.

The only issue is that I cannot spend tons of cash. I considered using a tackle box with lots of trays. I also thought a cardboard box woukd work but it would probably smash my models.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to store my stuff?
I have about 30 Vallejo paints and the same in Gee Dubs paints. I mainly paint 6mm so this is mainly for the paints, some flock, glue and a few tools.

When commuting, and then staying in place during the week, I made up a hobby travel kit from a fishing tackle box.

Had room for crafting tools, paints, minis, bases, etc..

Of course, I never really used it, despite big plans, but it did work well.

Consider a discount store for the box.

Sturdy, small, pizza boxes, or shoe-boxes might work as well (though a lot of the latter aren't too good). Check out a shoe-store to see if they'll give you some of the better ones for free.

You'll want the shoe boxes with attached lids that fold out of the way, since they seem to be better than the regular ones. They use thicker cardboard.

If you can get to a Bass Pro or a Cabelas, I am sure you can find a tackle box that suits your needs. I would START, however, by laying out all the supplies and equipment you desire to use, and then go looking for a box to fit, rather than vice versa.

The small compartments in this Stanley organizer each hold 12 Vallejos:

The bigger compartments would work for tools and GW paints.

All good suggestions above. I've got an odd duck to throw into the mix. I moved over the summer and bought some moving boxes at Home Depot. They come in different sizes and there is an insert you can purchase to separate glasses when packing. I'm sure other DIY stores have the same or similar so take a look. You can probably get what you need for under $5.00 USD.

I do own a Plano tackle box with 4 drawers and a large compartment on top. These run around $30.00 USD so may be more than you want to invest in. That plus a small cutting board from the kitchen or craft department is all you need if you already have all the other goodies you need.
