EDIT- Don't worry, I bought another set of tiles made by Dave Graffam models and it comes with instructions (much more helpful!) Hello, I've just downloaded some pdf documents from Wargamevault in order to make some street tiles. I thought it would be easy but I'm completely at a loss how to do anything with the file. I can open it, but it doesn't look like advertised (one single page full of tiles separated by hexagons – I bought the Simple Textures: Bricks & Stones) but it doesn't have the tiles on the file image advertised… I thought it had three pages with one page dedicated to each file type…
Anyhow, what do you do with it once you have the download, how can I start designing a floor? There's no help guide and I'm rather embarrassingly stuck… please help! :) |

If it is this one: link the publisher may have decided to use Adobe Acrobat's layer functions to best effect, drawing everything on as layers, requiring the use of the layers control to switch them on and off, allowing the use of one page for everything, which you can then customise. In Reader, choose the Layers icon and a list of check boxes will appear, allowing control of the visible layers. What appears on screen will appear on the printed page. |

Yeah, thanks for that – I downloaded Adobe and got it working – prior to that my original pdf reader with windows 8.1 was a tad confusing, but now I've printed off a couple of floors! |

Printing them is fine, but if you want to go the extra mile (and of course, extra $$$) then here is what I do. I print them on adhesive backed paper, and then mount them to very thin card stock. It gives the terrain a bit more stability. It also makes storage fairly simple in that I can just put them on a bookshelf when I'm done. ~Lou |

I've just been printing them on thinish card (As my printer can't handle the recommended thickness) and have been using spray adhesive to stick two of the cardstock together to make it more stable. I've also made a tower out of a kitchen roll tube and wrapping a4 paper around it – I've also given it a top floor for archers to stand on. Not the best looking thing in the world, but it'll do for now :) |

Here is a link to my old post on this topic: TMP link (or, how to make stone towers using cardboard tubes, and castle paper terrain PDF's). Cheers! |

The Dave Graffam stuff usually comes as either single-layer or multi-layer. The single-layer you just print as is, but as others have said here, the multilayers will look like nothing much at all until you check out the layer options. It confused me, too, the first time I used one, but once you play with it, it makes the PDFs just that much more useful for several projects. |
