Do you ever wish you had lots of bug swarms for your games?

I put together some swarms of ants that can be used with as giant swarms in 6mm, 15mm, and 28mm games. I love models that can multi-task in different scales.

Pretty easy and pretty cheap to do.

Nice – you can never have enough ants

Can't you get the black plastic ants in the USA? – beats having to paint them

Yeah, but he did them in red, and white was probably an easier start, right Sean?

Wait, white? Did these glow-in-the-dark? ;->=

When I bought these, they were all out of the black ones. So I got some of the white. I don't know if they glow in the dark.

I actually painted these black and then sprayed the red over the black. Yes, it would have been easier to start with black and once I use up all these white ones, I will do that for the next batch. I can paint the color over black ones without having to apply an undercoat.

The black plastic Ants seem like they need no paint, to be honest. The hardest part in using them, is the base. I've been toying with the idea of using my set for a one-off wargame: Humans/Elves/Gnomes/Dwarves battling an invading army of Giant Ants. My games are done using 2nd Ed. BattleSystem rules, so the Ants are heavily armored critters, and difficult to kill -- they tend to show up in large numbers. They would be quite deadly in an RPG, but they'd be a fun army to run in a tabletop game, at least once… Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

@Sgt Slag – I kicked around the idea of not painting them, but I thought that adding a little color added a little extra detail. I went with red because in my mind, this is a horde of giant army ants. They would still look good without painting them at all.

Basing any models for me is always a challenge. It seems like every game system uses a different base size or sometimes multiple sizes. I just pick something that works and go with it.
