Beautiful. Why did we ever move away from architecture that looks like this? |

When they found out how to squeeze more $s out of the product by doing less Donald, I'm with you Deco is uber stylish and I'm a Bauhaus fan too (the art style and the band ,_-) |

My work building, built in 1939 by the WPA, has some very deco-ish interior decor, including the ceiling light fixtures in the first floor main hall, which is a good 12-15 high. The fixtures are minimalist aluminum brackets holding thick (1" or more) slabs of very-slightly smoked frosted glass. The aluminum case for the building directory and the elevator floor indicator panels are absolutely deco, too. |

Why did we stop? Steel and Glass boxes are cheaper and faster to build. |

Cheaper and faster? Perhaps. But not as rugged. ISTR a news video of a Depression-era WPA building of mostly brick construction, that was being imploded. Not once. Not twice. It took three full applications of scientifically-placed modern high explosives to finally bring it down. |
