Has anyone played these rules? Haven't seen much on the forums since they were launched and their own forum seems pretty dead. Any thoughts from those who have had it on the table would be most welcome. AFAIK these cover late war ETO only – is that correct? There was a mention of an expansion/supplement – any news on this? Many thanks Nick |

Never heard of them. Think you actually mean Panzergrenadier deluxe. They are not part of the " Battlegroup" rules series. This is the author's blog- I am sure he could answer any questions you might have. He does post on TMP from time to time. generaldebrigade.blogspot.co.uk

Sorry steamingdave but you are mistaken – as you would see if you followed your own link through to the rules page link The full title is correct – I am fully aware that they are nothing to do with Battle Group from Warrick Kinrade. As I mentioned in my post there have been only 3-4 posts since the new version of the rules came out. |

Yep the name thing is confusing. Only played the older version but they were excellent. Can only expect good things from the updated version when I finally get around to buying them (everything I've read seemed positive). |

Been playing these rules for over a year now. Quite like them. Some mechanics were new to me and took some Q&A with the author before I fully understood them. Was quite active on the forum for a while, but once all my questions were answered there was little need to go back there. Someone, maybe the author or R Mark Davies, said that there would be an Early War expansion, but that the author had other things he wanted to do first. So I wouldn't hold my breath …… Addit …. Soviet forces are covered too. |

They cover east and west fronts but not the Pacific theatre. Good rules and you can use FoW based models quite easily now. |

I have mixed feelings about these rules. I've played them once and I like some of it, like the command system, but then a let down were the overwatch rules (often a failing in a lot of tactical rules) where we found it was easier to hit a moving target far away than to hit one stationary and close up because the game rewards overwatch disproportionately. Also, we found it favours the Germans a little too much. I've played a lot of WW2 games and Panzergrenadier sits in the top half of my list of best rules sets, but it doesn't break into the very top. |

The older version 2 included japanese and does recce very very well. As someone who has played more than once, I found the balance between recce and overwatch is as close to perfect as I have found in any ww2 rules. It produced a spate of recce and engineer vehicles being purchased that would not have been bought otherwise as their battlefield use was close to non-existent. |

UberCommando, Re: easier to hit a moving target far away than to hit one stationary and close up Not in Deluxe PanzerGrenadier. If you were fired at by an enemy unit at close range this triggers Defensive Fire by the target unit/s. So fire and/or movement triggers Defensive Fire at close range. Only movement triggers Defensive Fire at longer ranges. Hope that helps. DB |

"Not in Deluxe PanzerGrenadier" ….and, if memory serves me, not in the previous versions either |
