We played a game of A Sergeant's War on Saturday at Stronghold Games in McAllen, TX. The scenario was based on the American 32nd Infantry Division's operations on New Guinea in November/December 1942, when they fought against well entrenched Japanese forces. The game was hard fought, with sharp Japanese counter attacks, heavy fire from MG bunkers, and point blank shots from US Stuart tanks. Pictures below. Here is a link to my blog, where I have more pictures, a full game description, and an full order of battle, notes, and a map in case you want to play the scenario yourself. Thanks! Blog link: link

Nate, That's fantastic, I love it! You never see New Guinea gamed. And though I'm not a fan of doggies in the Pacific, this looks like it would work great for jarheads in the Solomons ;) Your terrain looks amazing, I need to do some of that up myself, looks like it would work for WWII Pacific, Vietnam, maybe some South American and African jungles as well. And you're really turning me on to those 15mm Resistant Roosters as Marines. Thanks for posting, look forward to more. Is this your next mini-campaign? Looking forward to that too ;) V/R, Jack |

If I can, I'd like to join you in this battle's refight at Millennium Con in November, in Round Rock, Texas. Jeff |

Digging the table cover you've done there. Very nice. |

Thanks! @Just Jack: Not sure if I'll do a mini campaign for New Guinea, though I might. I'll need to read more on the fights for Buna. The nature of the fighting is similar (bunker busting) to Marines on Okinawa, which I plan a generic book for. Now, the division that fought this campaign, the 32nd, was a major player in many of MacArthur's campaigns. I might do a liberation of the Philippines book built around them. @Jeigheff: This game is already schedule for Millenium Con, 8PM on Friday 6 November, BM-175. It can easily handle 5 players. Hope to see you there! |
