So any tips how to build these, especially mounting them to a base? |

historygamer, I have built 100's of feet of these over the years. The fence will slip/snap together in sections with the upright poles lined up. I like to prepaint and preflock my bases, but there are options. I prefer bass wood which can be cut to lengths and widths to easily support them. It is a strong material and can be used in thin sizes to reduce the image of a base under the fence. I used to use crazy type glues to glue them onto the flocked bases (one of the reasons I can no longer use these types of glues because I developed an allergy to too much contact with the glue). I now use Eleens Tacky Glue (you must support the fence with something to allow it to dry for a few hours – I use other sections of fence for this simple task). I also cover the pieces with more flock to cover the line of glue and to help support the pieces while drying upright. Contact me if you want to discuss. Doug |

The fence sections snap together. Alternate the adjacent sections (the upright poles stick out on the bottom cross rails). Use one section with them pointing down, the next section pointing up, etc. This makes for a straight fence when the sections are glued together. You can make corners by gluing two sections together at a 90 degree angle. Jim (former Musket Miniatures owner). |
