Crossfire.

Cosmic Reset30 Sep 2015 4:59 a.m. PST

Probably AH's Bismarck, then an old version of Mustangs and Messerschmitts and Star Fleet Battles.

Timmo uk30 Sep 2015 5:14 a.m. PST

AH Bismarck is a brilliant game, I wish I had an opponent then I'd play it again. Same combat system as Jutland, also noted in this list.

WRG Renaissance recently and Forlorn Hope.

Dexter Ward30 Sep 2015 6:10 a.m. PST

Kriegspiel.
Then after that I guess Fire & Fury and Crossfire.

SpuriousMilius30 Sep 2015 6:56 a.m. PST

Tho I don't play "Mordheim" as a game anymore, I do use the rules for sword & pistol skirmishes--Border Reivers, Renaissance, ECW, & Barsoom.

Play Regularly?

Mostly I am moving to the THW rules so relatively new stuff when I run a game but…

Ironically I must admit a friend of mine (regular/most frequent opponent) uses some self-modified variant of TS&TF or Chassepot and Needlegun for almost all his games.

Air Combat games are Wings AT War or Wessex Games (WW1 through Modern) so not "old" IMO.

Occasional play – Chainmail (the OD&D contemporary one, not the CMG one)

Unfortunately inactive due to lack of miniatures – Tricorne

Never should have sold/given away – Tricolor! and Column, Line, and Square.

We regulary still play Armati II.
And are still playing WFB 5th now and then.

Last weeks game was Man'o'war.

I don't know which of these games is the oldest.

Laserburn, unless ASL predates it.

Column, Line and Square

I would probably still be playing Fletcher Pratt too if I knew anyone else who was interested.

I certainly play TSATF, but I hesitate to call those rules "old" yet. wink

'Wooden Ships and Iron Men' was originally called 'Ship of the Line' by Juggernaut and was a miniature set of rules. So that is close in 1983-4.
TSATF, I first played in 1983.
BattleTech was about 1984-5. Car Warsw and SFB all used the counting hits and location but I no longer have any opponents for those three.
Rules I can remember playing before that , I no longer play.

Great War Ace01 Oct 2015 12:05 p.m. PST

Mine. First developed back in the late 70s. They were good then and they still are.

That's for historicals. RPG, that's a different matter altogether. Currently, I'm using a revived, restructured gaming system. It seems that each time I go back into RPG, I have to "research" what I did before, select stuff I still like (and understand!) and to a complete redesign in order to be happy….

In the grand manner, played General quarters a few weeks back, for the first time, WWII Narvik stuff, great rules, had a great game.

General Quarters is still played by me and people at the club I attend. However, although I don't play it that regularly, my oldest set of miniatures rules I like are Striker; the Traveller wargaming rules.

I still have a copy of WRG 1685-1845 and maintain it's still good.

Bashytubits22 Oct 2015 12:05 p.m. PST

The sword and the flame, also Kriegspiel.

CorpCommander17 Dec 2015 1:00 p.m. PST

Close Action, Napoleonic age of sail, 1997 edition. Rumors persist of a coming 2nd edition…
