Too late…been done: Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (2007) How about a spin-off with action and likable characters? |

A spinoff of a show that is slready pretty bad Interestingly, Mrs Elmo actually enjoys the show and hates all other Zombie media. Her words were: "It's got some zombies but it's mostly about the PEOPLE." The only complaint was that the characters have greasy dark hair and kinda all look alike (except for the one blonde woman). I hope they keep examining the early elements of a zompocalypse rather than life after the collapse. |

Not sure how they do it, but more and more the Walking Dead franchise is managing to make the zombie apocalypse well … dull. These shows start out strong, but then boil down to being soap operas with unwashed actors. And why is the military always evil in these shows? |
darthfozzywig | 29 Sep 2015 12:55 p.m. PST |
Because the military is made of people and most people are evil? :) I think Zimbardo's Stanford prison experiment and the psychological effects of most military occupations would be convincing enough. People collectively do all sorts of bad things they would never do individually, especially when they have the authority and power to do them. |

The more zombie shows the better. Love it, give me more. I'd like to see a spin off set in Washington. One where the zombies are all members of congress and executive branch. |

Still watching but not impressed with spin off #1 |

Not nearly as good as Walking Dead but I like the show. The military portion is badly handled though, as is the spread of the zombie plague – in the real world we had a handful of people with Ebola here in the US but in the FTWD world MANY MANY people are infected with some strange virus and nobody really seems to know? |

A spin-off of a spin-off. Hollywood really doesn't have any imagination left, do they? |

Any bets that this is set on the plane that they paused to focus on in (I think) episode 3 as if flew erratically through the sky? It always bugged me that they never showed whether it crashed or not. |

Dan, I expect that is the case and I share your feeling about it. RE: military I just watched the most recent episode on demand last night. Right after the most damning stuff on the National Guard came out; they had a commercial for the U.S. Army. I would be much happier on a whole if they showed the troops (any nation) doing all they could to save as many as they could only to fail with their best efforts. Something more along the lines of the Well's War of the Worlds or the German defeat on the East front. |

That said… The military follows orders. They aren't portrayed as evil, but scared human beings that have to adapt to a situation that is nearly impossible to imagine in the first place. When Ophelia Salazar was throwing bottles at the gate of the compound, the one Guardsmen was going to desert on the spot. When the Lieutenant was killed by Zekes, his guys dropped Travis off and took off immediately. That doesn't strike me as the behavior of evil men… But scared ones that are taking drastic actions in order to save the world… And in the end, it wasn't worth it to them to stick to it. I personally like FTWD because it's covering the often overlooked aspect of the collapse which Rick was lucky enough to sleep through. Nick also presents a character that has serious personal issues and how he copes with his addiction in a world that actively tries to kill him will be very interesting. |

Something also to keep in mind: if the TV show fictional US military is as committed and badass as the real US military, then the zombies aren't going to make much headway and there's no show. ;) |
