In his article on making terrain for smaller toy soldiers, Mick Sayce has a section on making artillery redoubts. The first instruction is:

Cut a piece of leftover ‘D' wood moulding down the middle so that the bevelled edge is on the outside of both pieces

What is the best way of getting a good straight cut down the middle?

Here's my answer – buy quarter round beading instead!

Yeah, a 6' or 8' length of quarter round is inexpensive and will make a lot of redoubts and trench sections.

Making a jig to cut D molding will probably cost more than the 1/4 round stock.

You could always purchase 4 lengths of 1/16th-Round and bolt them together.

Another method of making these redoubts is to cut wine bottle corks into quarters.

Wine bottle corks are getting harder to come by these days.
