All of them, or just the government? On the whole, they were probably no better or worse than anyone around them. Careful not to blame the people merely living in Rome to the government doing crazy things all over the place (then and now). I don't think any government is very good for the world in general. They just don't have the incentives to be good. Never have had. |

It has never occurred to me to view the Romans as "bad", they were just a thing that happened, and behaved quite reasonably given the low standards of the time. Besides, they were hugely entertaining. Good. |
