FormaLabs ( formlabs.com ) have come up with an improved model of their 3D printer; Form2. From pictures it looks like it is good enough to do Miniatures.

Costing $3,499 USD it is a lot less expensive than the other commercial printers but out of most peoples price range ( co-operative anyone )

I just stumbled across this today as well. It looks amazing. I was looking at another SLA printer but it comes out next year, and is $8,000. USD This might be a nice place to start.

The resin looks spendy, but not cost prohibitive. We have so many uses for this, it would be easy to justify the expense I think. In the long run, anyway.

How much does the resin work out at? Another printer I looked at seemed to need a new tank for every litre of resin…

The Resin is 135+VAT euro for 1 litre.

From reading don't need to replace the tank for each miniature done, only once tank is empty. Should be able to get a fairly large number of figures from 1L, especially if have vehicles hollowed out (could fill hollows with cheaper milliput or car-bondo)

From info-charts need grey or black resin for best detailing.

(admittedly, unless won lottery would not be able to afford one myself).

I'd need to see some in hand models before I start saving my pennies for one of these beasts, but I seriously look forward to the day that these things are commercially viable, as they're gonna change out hobby forever…
