Have you?

Patrick R23 Sep 2015 12:46 p.m. PST

A few times

Razor7823 Sep 2015 12:51 p.m. PST

Yes twice, once while I was in London for a week and once while I was on an 18 hour layover.

MajorB23 Sep 2015 12:51 p.m. PST

Yes. Why do you ask?

Huscarle23 Sep 2015 12:57 p.m. PST

A few times as well, well worth a visit or three.

GarrisonMiniatures23 Sep 2015 1:00 p.m. PST

Quite a few times over the years.

Wackmole923 Sep 2015 1:01 p.m. PST

I've gone to the BM 4 times and each time I find something new that makes my jaw drop. Nowhere can you see so much history in one place.

Red358423 Sep 2015 1:06 p.m. PST

Yes…lots, but then I live in London.

Tommy2023 Sep 2015 1:07 p.m. PST

Only once, and not for nearly long enough.

advocate23 Sep 2015 1:09 p.m. PST

Yes, whenever I'm in London.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 1:17 p.m. PST

Dozens of times over the years – dropped off when it was charging but now it's free again – lots more.

So much great stuff – a really spectacular Egyptian gallery, but also the amazing Assyrian frescoes. Sutton Hoo excavation material, and ….you need days to see it all. I need to go again.

They also have a great free lecture series.

Lee Brilleaux Fezian23 Sep 2015 1:19 p.m. PST

Every time I'm in London.

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 1:22 p.m. PST

Yes, lots of times over the years. Kids preferred the Natural History Museum when they were younger now they are 30+ they prefer the V&A or the Tate.

Greg G123 Sep 2015 1:27 p.m. PST

Have been several times over the years, try and go to a different gallery each time I go. Should go more often as I only live 20 miles from London.

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 1:40 p.m. PST

Who hasn't? I could live there.

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 1:48 p.m. PST

yes, whenever I'm in London.

TBeyer Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 1:49 p.m. PST

I've been there too – amazing place. Someone told me you could spend years traveling the whole world to see ancient ruins and artifacts. Or you could just go to the British Museum and get it all done at once.

mad monkey 123 Sep 2015 1:52 p.m. PST

once.

14th Brooklyn23 Sep 2015 1:55 p.m. PST

Each time I am in London.

Cornelius23 Sep 2015 2:00 p.m. PST

I live in London – I seem to go about once every 3 or 4 years. I sometimes go to the Museum of London at lunchtime though – I work nearby.

Legbiter23 Sep 2015 2:02 p.m. PST

Once or twice. Good place! Personally prefer V&A, Science Museum, and Natural History Museum. Tate Modern is excellent too.

Skrapwelder23 Sep 2015 2:04 p.m. PST

Went twice while I was there for Salute. I could live in the clock room.

Tgerritsen Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 2:53 p.m. PST

Many times, though not for a few years. Time to schedule a trip!

Gone Fishing23 Sep 2015 3:13 p.m. PST

Oh yes. Surely one of the greatest museums in the world.

jdpintex23 Sep 2015 3:19 p.m. PST

Yep

Maddaz11123 Sep 2015 3:20 p.m. PST

I take a quick tour if I get an overnight stay when I have meetings in London.

I generally wander, rather than looking at a map or guide book.. number of times I have been asked to explain something to a tourist (as in mistaken for an expert on Greek/ Roman/ Egyptian/ Assyrian ….?) three times. Fortunately I was able to explain what the customer wanted to know without taxing my tired brain too much.

I have been an expert on other tours with our adult education history group, and have to admit we are planning a couple of nights in London to do the British Museum properly with them in the new year..

Maddaz11123 Sep 2015 3:21 p.m. PST

And I still think the Louvre is better!

377CSG Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 3:27 p.m. PST

Yes – one time in 1968 on a school trip.

The G Dog Fezian23 Sep 2015 3:30 p.m. PST

Yep. Earlier this year. I could spend the day.

45thdiv23 Sep 2015 3:48 p.m. PST

Is that the one where the top floor or two are on medical history? That was truely amazing. But I find all,of the museums in the UK to be well done.

Maddaz11123 Sep 2015 4:40 p.m. PST

Actually I find some museums in the UK to be bleeding awful, but our good museums are world class.

Last time I visited the Imperial war museum it was "in a state of flux" – I think the last two words of that quote were redundant, but I hope to visit next year to see if it gets better..

I think some museums have dumbed down too much.. I preferred the old Natural history layout of the early nineties, to the 2010 (ish) layout. I could spend a week in some museums and still want to have another day or ten..

Goober23 Sep 2015 4:40 p.m. PST

A few times, although not as often as I have been to Bovington!

Yes

Norman D Landings23 Sep 2015 5:46 p.m. PST

Lived in London for 9 years on and off – must have been to the BM half-a-dozen times.
Ditto V&A and the Natural History museum.

I did live in Kennington for a couple of years though, literally over the road from the Imperial War Museum. Must have been there twenty times.
Nothing good on telly? Tank time!

Toronto4823 Sep 2015 6:37 p.m. PST

Yes many times – great place to spend on a rainy day in London

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP23 Sep 2015 7:12 p.m. PST

Yes, in 1985. I was in the Egyptian Wing and was backing up to get some pictures of the large statues. Bumped into some thing and when I turned around, it was the Rosetta Stone!

Cyrus the Great23 Sep 2015 8:23 p.m. PST

Yes, more than once.

J Womack 9423 Sep 2015 8:52 p.m. PST

Twice so far. Love it.

Martin Rapier23 Sep 2015 11:14 p.m. PST

King Monkey24 Sep 2015 7:41 a.m. PST

Yes but probably not for 30 years

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP24 Sep 2015 12:10 p.m. PST

Yes, everytime I have been to Kings Landing (sorry,.. London!)

Its worth going just for the Lachish reliefs!

skedaddle Supporting Member of TMP24 Sep 2015 12:33 p.m. PST

Raynman Supporting Member of TMP24 Sep 2015 2:28 p.m. PST

Not yet, but hopefully before I die!

49mountain25 Sep 2015 11:44 a.m. PST

Think I went to the Military museum(?) instead.

John Jacobs25 Sep 2015 12:52 p.m. PST

Yes once back in 2012. Would like to go back as there is so much to see that it is nearly impossible to take it all in on one trip.

Old Contemptibles25 Sep 2015 9:38 p.m. PST

No, but I would like to one day before I have my last haircut.

sumerandakkad27 Sep 2015 2:40 a.m. PST

Many times. The last visit 6 weeks ago when I went specifically to see the Assyrian section.

Guthroth01 Oct 2015 1:06 p.m. PST

Many many times. I was there last Tuesday. Filled with kids and oriental tourists, but hardly anyone bothers with the Assyrian reliefs – still breathtaking IMO ….
