Yesterday I ordered some of the new Kra'Vak from GZG.
Today I arrived home to find them sitting on the doormat!
Phenomenal service!

Jon mentioned that they're a little larger than the previous sculpts so I added a few comparison shots to my blog:

Thanks! They don't look out of place at all, and their integral base is a little thicker than the others, which makes up most of the difference in height.

I don't think the height is an issue. It makes them look quite intimidating. Jon suggests using the previous sculpts as younger, maybe adolescent individuals, which I think is a great idea. They seem like they'd have a warrior culture; one that sends the lads out to war!

It didn't quite come over in the photos but the faces have much better features. Hopefully this will be clearer when I get some paint on them.

Thanks Ralph – a very useful set of comparison photies.

Ralph I wait with baited breath for your painted examples, having a mothballed Kilo Victor battle group in the lead mountain.

This comp shot was helpful…but I will wait to order them another time..

However I ordered a bunch of his mercs with and without helmets though

Those look really nice… but I'm going to hold off buying until there are some support weapons available.

Ralph Plowman23 Sep 2015 1:40 p.m. PST

Well, each pack of 8 rifles includes 2 free support weapons for a limited time. LMG types.

I'm not sure if you can really see the mandibles in those photos. They're really vicious looking. Jon said that he's given the 'mouth open' heads to the soldiers firing and charging. Nice touch!

Considering that they kind of look like Predator Soldiers and wonder how they would look or compare with Non-Predators figures from other makers,

They look a fair bit shorter than Khurasan's Huntarr:

I noticed the new CDF troops are significantly larger than prior GZG figures. Fabulous sculpts but the increased size threw me off a bit. The horse mounted GZG troops dwarfed the mounted Khurusan and Rebel figs I have.

BTW, Jon turned my order around last week in something like 3-4 days. Always amazing.

Working as a military force, using a cast system they could be a lower cast, the larger ones could be the command element.

Or the smaller ones can be the younger ones, with more armor and hand held weapons, to aid them to survive puberty, and as they get older and bigger they lose their armor and hand held weapons moving up to more complex and challenging weapons.

A larger and meaner Kra'vak are what's needed. Looks like the Kra'vak breeding program is working out well.
