I've been working on a small project based on the US involvement in the Persian Gulf in 1987-88, so I thought you might like to see how I'm getting on.

Surface Action Group Charlie from Operation Praying Mantis: USS Wainwright, USS Bagley and USS Simpson

USS Sides and USS Elmer Montgomery

The Iranian frigates Sabalan and Sahand

Unfortunately the photos of my merchant fleet and the Iranian fast attack craft didn't come out.

Also a plea – I'd love to see some pics of others members' models and to read some AARs: I'm sure I'm not alone in finding inspiration in others' work. Fascinating though many of the debates on the Modern Board are it would be nice to see a bit more wargaming!

What rules do you use?

Looks like fun.

I need some Chinese vessels, so I can run some current day, what-if skirmishes.

I've got some of the aircraft, but need to paint those up.

I've just moved house so need to see what needs time in the dockyard
I hope to get set up for a littoral campaign or at least linked scenerios somewhere in the Far East

Here are the rules and some eye candy

Enjoyed that link!

Planning to use Shipwreck, but not tried them yet. Having been in my teens during the Falklands War my first experience of my country being in a war against another (as opposed to COIN campaigns) was largely a naval war, hence always being fascinated.

Another thing I like about moderns is the number of small hypothetical scenarios – there are so many that 'could' have happened: Greece v. Turkey, Morocco v. Spain, Argentina v. Chile, the list is endless!

The 1978 argentine vs Chile almost war is often overlooked – I pulled some limited info together in link

The Beagle Channel would be an interesting combat zone!
Especially due to poor weather etc

1980s Naval is my main naval interest too.
