Just completed the last few stands for this – ended up doing two sets of guns and so I compare Arrowhead and Pithead models in the post

Excellent review, I both enjoyed it and found it useful. I'm just discovering 1/144 WW2.

For me 10mm or 1/144 is the scale to go for (and by the way Pithead fits in well with 1/144 while Pendraken can be a bit small for vehicles but infantry and crew figures are great; Arrowhead are 1/144). I started with 1/72 (or 1/76) and that is just too big, 15mm is still big while I tried 6mm for modern and while GHQ are excellent I just found them too small on the table – just can't see any of that lovely detail from any distance at all. 10mm is big enough to appreciate but small enough to fit a lot on the table without it looking like a WW1 charge

I use Flames of War. Having tried many I do like it despite some people not liking it at all. I tend to play with friends so we can deal with any rules quirks without problem – never liked playing figures games in any sort of competitive way, too may rules lawyers. I do it because I love to make and paint things and I play for fun

Very nice! I especially liked the stack of shells piled up near the guns on your bases. Thanks for sharing.

Steve – Congratulations on your impressive brushwork and decalling.

I'd not spotted Arrowhead before and a quick look at their site shows some very attractive models. Before taking the plunge into 10mm/12mm, I bought samples of Pendraken and Wargames South but thought the latter were a bit too big (and the range not comprehensive enough) for what I was aiming for.

So I have predominantly Pendraken (infantry and most vehicles) with some Pithead to fill in gaps. I guess Arrowhead are comparable to Wargames South (or are they Wargames South?) and so wouldn't fit in with what I already own. Am I right?

Arrowhead is just the new name for Wargames South so exactly the same models as before – just a name change as a clash with someone in the USA

Nice pieces.
Be aware that if this is a real battery size, that during deployment most batteries were W shaped or lined due to the effect in the target area.
This because of the impacts needed to fill the square or line.
