Safer than that, I am always ready to duck right after I tell some how to do their job. Though that is my job as a manager and was when I was still an actively serving US Army Officer. If you don't want me to tell you how to do your job, then do it correctly the first time. |

I worked with a guy for a long time and still see at least once a year who when he got mad and not necessarily you tools went flying, the only thing to do was duck and cover. |

Fifth post!? The 'Carry On…' reflex is weakening. |

During my time at Battlefront it was not uncommon for chairs to go flying around the office and doors kicked in when the resident Norseman threw his toys out of the cot and went on a beserker rampage… quite the spectacle really. |

Depends on where I'm working day to day. We have the usual construction and ecavation hazards, operating around heavy machinery, and occasionally unexploded ordnance. And sometimes its more like "stay awake, stay employed." |

I work in a school system, so the concern is not tools flying around, it's potential law suits. You don't want to get hit with one of those. |

Does the phrase 'on the job' not mean the same thing in America? |

My stock response was "I am doing what you would have told me to do, if you knew what you were talking about." |

I believe the closest US equivalents are 'doing the wild thang' and 'doing the do', Cerdic. |

I have never had any issues with safety at my job, on the job on the other hand. I have missed the grab onto the chandelier after leaping off the wardrobe a couple of times. |

That Dumas bloke has a lot of boudoir injuries to answer for. |

Try working in healthcare. I've been bitten, hit with chairs, hot coffee thrown at me (in the pot), punched, kicked, my life and my family threatened by patients and their family, just to name a few. And yet we are expected to take it because "Its part of the Job." Oh, did I leave out the injuries due to lifting and transferring patients. Its not like on TV kiddies, the majority of them push 250 pounds, a few close to 400. |
