…and it seems all fighters. Small, like you could use for squadron stands. Not sure if as small as Armada, mind you.

I think I saw X-Wings, Y-Wings, B-Wings, and TIE's. Poor, boring Empire…

Well, the images I can Google seem to bare that our, as well as an ISD.

Anyone got actual sizes?

Yep, I saw it yesterday. I looked it over twice to see how the playing pieces could be used, other than the game.

I've a couple of the Clone War Risks, and one original trilogy, from thrift stores. Not holding my breath on these…

Discussion over at the BGG forums indicates that it's very similar in concept to the old highly praised Queen's Gambit game based on Ep 1.
This one is based on the Battle of Endor from RotJ. The game has three boards, taking the shape of Vader's Advanced TIE. One wing is the path to the shield generator, the other Luke's fight with Vader and the Emperor. The cockpit in the center is the space battle around the Death Star II.
It's a two faction game, Rebel vs. Empire, played either by two people or four as two teams. The Empire wins by destroying all the Rebel starships, the Rebels win by destroying the Death Star. The Death Star cannot be attacked until the shield generator is destroyed (the wing board). Luke's battle gives advantages and resources to either side during the game, depending on who is on top of that fight as it progresses (and yes, both Luke and Vader can be killed). The various resources and cards won are divided among the three fields of struggle as each side deems necessary. It's not a game of conquest as such, but a struggle for advantage to gain the knockout blow (for the Rebels) or prevent the same (the Empire).

The above is gleaned from that discussion; I have neither seen nor played the game myself, but I am intrigued by the complexity and the asymmetric nature of both the forces and the objectives; the two sides clearly would not play the same.

Currently the standard version is (somewhat) available at $30. USD

A "Black" edition will be available as an Amazon exclusive (costing $60 USD) though no release date has been announced. The Black Edition will have figures for the Death Star, the Executor, the Millenium Falcon, and the Stormtroopers that guard the path to the shield generator. In the standard game, it appears these are simply printed tokens.

Damn, I hate it when something that appears to have so much valuable toy factor turns out to be a worthy game, as well. ;->=

See 'not holding my breath…'

Still would like to get ideas of size of pieces.

Photo of Black Edition, or at least a prototype version, presented at a convention, I believe (not my photo, so I don't know the origin):

picture

The Luke/Vader/Emperor board is the wing to the left. The Shield Generator path is the wing to the right.

Note the minis of the DSII, the Executor and the MF among the starfighters.
