Hi Guys,

I was steered in your direction by a very nice gentleman at Spencer Smith Miniatures who thought someone on here may be able to help.

When my father was younger he collected and painted wargaming figures. After he passed away my mum handed me a fairly sizeable collection made of of plastic and die cast tanks, Stadden Napoleonic figures which were beautifully painted but also with a large amount of unpainted figures and s a nice collection of boxes of Alberken Battles of Yesteryear painted figures.

There are various sets of Alberken. One box labelled French light infantry boxes of Prussian Hussars etc. Unfortunately I am no historian and have even less of a clue where these figures are concerned. All I can tell you is that I think they were bought in either the 40's or the 50's. They have been boxed since at least 1985. Does anyone know someone or somewhere reasonably near to me (Rotherham) where I could take them to see what they're worth?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

40s or 50s is too early as Alberken was only set up in 1964 – you can read about it here: link

Lists and pictures of figures are on my Old metal Detector blog here:

They are of great interest only to a very small number of people and the answer to what thay are worth is whatever someone will pay for them.

If they are the factory painted sets there may be a bit more interest. You may get a few interested people here, otherwise you could put a set on ebay and see what happens.

They are nice figures but not collectable in the way Hinton Hunt are (were?) and indeed there were rumours from Marcus Hinton that some designs had been pirated.
I don't see it myself. They are very nice figures which became the basis for the Minifigs 20mm range before the S Range figures came out in 1968.

I'd say they were factory painted
