I'm looking for a cavalry horse holder figure in 28mm for the plains war timeframe.
Can anyone help?

Are you asking who makes them, or are you asking for someone to sell or give you one? I would just use an ACW horse holder.

Don't forget that horse holders during the Plains Indian Wars did not dismount. Any mounted figure with a free hand could be used as a horse holder. Every 4th man in a set of 4 held the horses of the first three.

Atomic Floozy has it right. Make a base of three riderless horses, place it next to a single mounted figure and Bob"s your uncle!

The Perrys do mounted horse holders with riderless horses in their ACW range for both sides. Maybe that could be a start point for conversion.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Sash and Sabre sells an ACW set. The man is on foot. I have loads of those now unpainted. I use the horses only with a mounted figure from Foundry.

They are mush less expensive than Perry and very nice figures. I do grind off the saddle skirts to convert the ACW era 1859 McClellan into the 1872 model that was in use in 1876. Only takes a minute or less with a Dremel tool.

Of course, if you want to do early Indian Wars in the 60's, ACW figures and horses as is are fine. I have that too for my 1860s.
