I'm looking for a cavalry horse holder figure in 28mm for the plains war timeframe. Can anyone help? |

Are you asking who makes them, or are you asking for someone to sell or give you one? I would just use an ACW horse holder. |

Don't forget that horse holders during the Plains Indian Wars did not dismount. Any mounted figure with a free hand could be used as a horse holder. Every 4th man in a set of 4 held the horses of the first three. |

Atomic Floozy has it right. Make a base of three riderless horses, place it next to a single mounted figure and Bob"s your uncle! |

The Perrys do mounted horse holders with riderless horses in their ACW range for both sides. Maybe that could be a start point for conversion. |

Sash and Sabre sells an ACW set. The man is on foot. I have loads of those now unpainted. I use the horses only with a mounted figure from Foundry. They are mush less expensive than Perry and very nice figures. I do grind off the saddle skirts to convert the ACW era 1859 McClellan into the 1872 model that was in use in 1876. Only takes a minute or less with a Dremel tool. Of course, if you want to do early Indian Wars in the 60's, ACW figures and horses as is are fine. I have that too for my 1860s. Tom |
