Mehmet hosted another game in Istanbul, though I did not participate this time. Here is the battle report

Nice to hear about gaming from differing parts of the world thanks KT :) now I'm intrigued about doing the Crimean in 10 mm (groan not another scale :)
Cheers and thanks for sharing.

Very cool, thanks for sharing! How large is the gaming community in Istanbul, is there a game/hobby store that is supportive as well?

Hello guys. First I made a mistake. This game was in Izmir. I would say that the dedicated Historical wargames scene in Turkey right now is about 20-25 people located between Cappadokia-Istanbul-Izmir. there is a bigger FOW and GW crowd. The only store that I know off that has gaming space is Pegasus in Istanbul which is the HQ of the Kararagh Club. The store does not bring miniatures for historical though beyond 1/72 and FOW.

Most of the historicals are 1/72 or 10mm. Periods are 18-19th century and they are now starting Middle Ages and Antiquity

Thanks for the report. I agree that it is interesting to read of the hobby shared by those outside of the 'typical' markets. With its strong Anglo origins and with most products produced in the English speaking parts of the world, I can see that the hobby is not necessarily easy for others to embrace.

Seriously I dare say the biggest anglo-centric part is table sizes. 64x48 or 72x48 is not that common as a dinner table size in Greece/Turkey. I bet also in most South Med. more often you will have 48x48 or 50x30 or 72x30.

72 X 48 is not a standard dinner table size in NYC. I manage to have a dedicated game table. Most dinner tables are smaller than that.
