The recent Fantastic 4 fiasco serves as a sobering lesson on the perils of not abandoning a sinking ship. Though director Josh Trank tweeted the following bold prediction right before the movie's release, we will never know if his version will be any more successful.

"A year ago, I had a fantastic version of this. And it would have received great reviews. You'll probably never see it. That's reality though." – Josh Trank via Twitter 8/6/15

Is Trank "difficult to work with"?

They strayed too much from the source material. The trailers did nothing for me. It all looked so dark and moody.

They should have done something similar to Guardians of the Galaxy. That first trailer had me hyped for months.

And it couldn't have been more colorful.

Deliver me from washed-out bluish-tinged movies, ESPECIALLY superhero movies. You know who you are.

I don't find the source material compelling at all. The best Fantastic Four movie wouldn't include the Fantastic Four.
Bingo, logicians.

What do you expect?
It's a superhero movie.

The comic book Dr Doom is one of the best supervillains out there. The film ones are terrible. I've not seen the latest version (I'll wait for the DVD or tv) but the first two lacked the warmth and character of the comics.

Hiring a sociopath to direct does seem an odd choice.

I'm glad Disney fired Trank before he could touch Star Wars.

I watched the first FF movie and was disappointed. The second movie was terrible and then I stopped. The first cartoon series was actually much better.

But he problem for the movie-makers is – How do you make a Dr. Doom that isn't Darth Vader?

My problem with it was , it falls into the trap of most superhero movies , especially 'origin' movies.

It has a rather good first half , a lot of exposition , a great deal of character development , one that has four main characters AND the villain to deal with.

This exposition/development was quite good , then they got there powers…

and here is falls apart , as it descends into what can be delivered visually as a PUNCH , how can we fight the villan and wrap it up by the end.

Man of Steel fell into this trap as well IMO.

I enjoyed all the performances , Miles Teller was great , and I enjoyed the backstory of a black Johnny Storm , and how Sue was the adoptee.

Even Doom was great before the accident , after he wasnt the Doom of the books , just some raging environut..

Shame , this film could have been so much, but like the comic , nothing has grabbed me in the FF for years.
