Evening all,

A while back I reviewed some of the 15mm Blue Moon Seven Years War range. Here I have got a finished unit of cavalry for you to have a look at. I think the horses are excellent sculpts and I a happy with the overall look of the unit. So much so I ordered some more.

I painted the horses in oils, which is a touch old school these days but I really haven't found a better method over the years. I have included a mini tutorial in the post on the techniques used.

Great figures Blue Moon, I have a fair few of their American Revolution figures and they are lovely sculpts. Very nice unit you have there.

Very nice looking unit. How does Blue Moon cavalry compare to Old Glory and Eureka ?

Hi 1st502Strike,

I would put them in the middle, slightly better than Old Glory which always suffer from poor casting and they are cheaper than OG here in UK.

I haven't had Eureka stuff in my hands but they appear similar to AB Napoleonics, they are a lot better than anything else but more expensive. Eureka however don't do British so they weren't an option.

Eureka cavalry are on very, very large scale horses. I only have the SYW Cossacks but can show you those compared to Old Glory, here link

I have Blue Moon Austrian Napoleonic cavalry and they are very small figures on horses that are quite thick through the body.
