I bought about 10 of the things but have never done anything like this before. I'm holding one now and trying to figure out the safest way to take it apart, but its way better quality that I would have originally assumed ;)

Any suggestions?

Side note. Any other models that would make good, cheap alternatives for scoff armor? I'd just get khurasan or rebel but looking to see if I can get something else and convert for a fraction of the price.

I just use an electric drill with a bit slightly larger than the "rivet" on the underside, drill it until the two parts come apart and be careful not to drill through your hand, a dremel will also work! Then you can paint, remove those silly wheels and add a turret of your choice, put the Busters turret in the spares box for another project!

I have not used these Blockade Buster toys but Matchbox Commando AFV toys instead, but do exactly as gundog has suggested above and then measure the diameter of the turret ring to see if you can get a metal washer of a slightly smaller size to sit inside the turret ring then its just a case of finding your turrets of choice and then gluing them to the washer which will allow the substitute turrets to be rotated or even be swapped out for something different. I will post up the Matchbox Commando AFV's I have been working on in the next few days when I get some time to take some decent photos to show you what I mean, also try to find a manufacturer that casts their own products as they are usually more than happy to sell you individual items such as turrets from their range. :) Zac

Thanks guys. Is a drill necessary? I don't have one.

Either a drill or a dremel. You need to be able to cut thru a steel rivet. Really sharp bits in a pin vise might work, but your hand will not thank you.

Really depends on what you want to do with it, if you don't want to use the turret for anything then you should just be able to lever it out with a screw driver and then glue its replacement over the hole. anything more in depth and then yes you'll need to take a drill to it.
