What historical or non-historical eras would you like to play, but your gaming buddies will not play the era? You may even have the miniatures, the rules and all the terrain, but nobody to play with. Waaahh! |
Great War Ace | 23 Aug 2015 5:16 p.m. PST |

Modern naval….using a simple set of rules with some added details….perhaps modified Harpoon Captains Edition or SPI's Task Force. |

3mm moderns, WWII and 2mm Ancients. I have the stuff. But everyone says their too small to see. I end up using the stuff for solo outings. |
Sudwind | 23 Aug 2015 9:35 p.m. PST |
I really dig 3mm and 1/700, 1/600 for operational level WW2 and modern warfare. |
Mooseworks8 | 23 Aug 2015 10:50 p.m. PST |
My solo-gaming buddy has a keen interest in everything I play. However it has been difficult getting him to play RPGs. |
tkdguy | 23 Aug 2015 11:28 p.m. PST |
Mainly historical games, since my friends prefer fantasy and science fiction. Vietnam War is a notable exception. Modern-day or near-future conflicts are okay. But Napoleonics or American Civil War? Not with this group. |
ITALWARS | 24 Aug 2015 3:00 a.m. PST |
WW1 in Africa and Bush Wars…nobody even know, her, of what i'm talking about |
Dynaman8789 | 24 Aug 2015 4:11 a.m. PST |
I'm the stinker that won't play some things, most sci-fi and fantasy. Overly fiddly uber rules meant to sell overpriced minis and rules IMO. |

Weasel, I sold FPW to my ACW colleagues by using the same rule set but altering the rules to fit the period. You can also get attention by talking about it as "Napoleonics on Steroids" |

Pretty much nothing. If someone sets it up and knows the rules, we will play it … tabletop, board, card, rpg, computer, etc. |

Russian expansion into Central Asia in the 19th century. |
Winston Smith | 24 Aug 2015 2:29 p.m. PST |
In our group, it makes no difference what the other guys want. Almost every game is put on by one guy who collects and paints both sides. It's a rare game where more than one person contributes. Which means that with guys with a wide variety of interests, you can play a wide variety of games. If I wanted to do Russian expansion into Central Asia, I would buy both sides and run the game. And next week I would play 15mm SYW, of which I own not a single figure. |
Ragbones | 24 Aug 2015 4:40 p.m. PST |
My friends will play anything. |
Extra Crispy | 24 Aug 2015 5:49 p.m. PST |
I'm with Ragbones. My last few games have been SYW, WW1 in Palestine, WW2 Normandy, Lord of the Rings, Zulus and SciFi…. |

Crimean war , go thru this all the time, "there's only four battles weeeeeoooo. Weeeeeoooooo. Weeeeeeoooooo". Suck it up buttercup, I kit bust a hundred different American civil war actions into crimean war scenarios, take out most of the trees and you have almost endless possibilities. But I still get the ---- """""weeeeooooooo. Weeeeeooooo weeeeooooo. There's only four battles. """"". I have 1300 figures from minifigs, tempted to add another 500-600 more and if they don't stop going "weeeeeeoooooo weeeeeoooooo weeeeeoooo" by hell I'm gonna do it, Yesh….. gettysburgaklava…….bitches |

Old Contemptibles | 04 Sep 2015 3:26 a.m. PST |
Will not do anything Fantasy or Science Fiction. They will do anything historical. Clay, don't tell them it is a ACW scenario. See if they can figure it out. I take ACW scenarios and use them for FPW. I invent the city names and adjust it somewhat. Nobody cares! It works great. I am going to start using Prussian vs. French Napoleonic scenarios for FPW. |
