"Kim Jong-un has rejected an apology from Seoul and ordered his army onto war footing. Today, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un announced a "quasi-state of war" after convening an emergency meeting of the country's powerful Central Military Commission, ordering his army to be ready for military operations beginning at 5 pm local time today. "Kim Jong-un issued an order of the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA) that the front-line large combined units of the KPA should enter a wartime state to be fully battle ready to launch surprise operations," according to Korea Central News Agency. Pyongyang also issued an ultimatum to Seoul to remove propaganda loudspeakers that South Korea has installed in the demilitarized zone (DMZ), broadcasting outside news to North Koreans but also criticizing Kim Jong-un, by 5 pm local time tomorrow…" Full article here link YouTube link In the past South Korea went out of their way to placate North Korea when tensions started to boil. Today …. it looks like South Korea is no longer interested in backing down, and will react with deadly force when faced with North Korean aggression. Amicalement Armand |

Yeah, that deadline has come and gone. Un is like the boy who cried "wolf". The South seems to have grown tired of responding. |

Yeah … give it a day or two … And Un needs a spanking from his elders … except they are all morons too … |

"You should be ready for surprise operations" and he tells the world? This war is over before it even started. |

The current ROK government is not like their predecessors. They came into office on a hard-liner position vs the NorKs. They aren't into appeasement. If this turns into a real shooting war, it won't be over for years, even if the initial massive assault is beaten back. The initial phase will result in casualties not seen since 1945. Once The North's major weapon systems and supplies are eliminated, then we still have to dig 1-2,000,000+ infantrymen and women and children out of their holes under some pretty serious terrain, all the while looking over their shoulders at possible PRC intervention. More than likely, when the regime falls, the North will break up into smaller territories ruled by local warlords. The ROKs will suffer so much, they will not be willing to stop this time until the threat is eliminated. |

Hallelujah, the war to end all wars has been averted. |

@Coopman: a restart of the Korean War has a chance of bringing the US and China into direct military conflict. No sane person wants that to happen. |
