Which do you prefer for your vehicles ?

I'm just getting into early war 20mm with some occasional leanings towards VBCW and I'm finding the same models available in all three for about the same price.

I have some resin models and a couple of metal ones, but my retro streak is steering me back to plastic. Metal feels solid, but clunky, resin is a bit rough for my likes, and while plastic is very light, the detail seems better.

What do you go for ?

TIA

Plastic vehicles. Metal or plastic for figures. Always suprised who well the plastic figures (esp Revell, Italia, Ceaser) from modern era paint up.

Plastic for everything.

Don't care as long as the vehicle is in good scale to
same-scale figures, lines are crisp and no 'droop' in
parts like tubes for main gun, etc.

As long as it is 18mm or smaller in size (or the appropriate numeric scale) it really doesn't matter.

Practically speaking that usually means metal miniatures.

Gamers today really are spoiled for choice. If I were to do it all over again I would go with plastic for vehicles and metal for figs.

My order of preference for vehicles would be plastic, resin, and last metal. I have found some of the metal kits require a tremendous amount of filling and sanding/filing (and even then can be problematic).

For figures, I like metal -- AB are very hard to beat!

If I could, I'd go plastic all the way.

Plastic for everything

Plastic wherever possible. A lot less weight to carry to and from the club.

11 replies, and 9 votes for plastic vehicles. That's pretty conclusive. Thanks.

Wait a few days, these things are not resolved in 24 hours…

Another vote for plastic. In 1/72 Armourfast and PSC have made a big difference to me

Resin. cant be bothered to make kits. And metal for figures. Of course I am biased, but even my own armies with stuff I don't produce, is resin.

Metal for figures; mostly resin for vehicles; but I will use whatever is available for the oddball vehicles I want!

Plastic if its the quickbuild stuff.. Like PSC. Only time ive bought resin vehicles is when theyre not available in plastic. Metal in my opinion always seems crude and takes alot of work.. (even though battlefront ones are decent)

all three for me

Plastic

Resin all the way, just received another box of Milicast, 72 models received in 10 days

Plastic, then resin, then metal.

All are toy soldiers, but price wise, 1.72 plastics are good for me

Grumble8710631 Aug 2015 2:25 p.m. PST

Plastic for me, with resin for things that aren't made in plastic. Only a few metal ones, mostly from flea market sales. Or my own scratch-builds, which can be plastic or balsa wood, cardboard and paper, etc., some with home-cast resin treads (small ones such as Bren carriers).

Blacky75010 Sep 2015 8:46 a.m. PST

Resin, then metal and plastic but that's because my eyes aren't up to making plastic kits these days nor do I have the patience
