Interesting. But I'm not sure I buy it. There's pretty strong evidence to support the hypothesis that they did not "disappear" but that they are us. Just like with modern humans, Neanderthals enjoyed a wide range of variability, and when compared to Cro-Magnon there was a lot of overlap, and still is. But who knows. It will be interesting to see what other researchers in the field have to say about this. |

Interesting but it seems to me to be highly speculative. What Hawks & Barton say towards the end of the article seems much more substantial. |
