"There was quite a bit of talk during Disney's live-action presentation at the D23 Expo today about the importance of heroines. Well, if this first image of the cast of the upcoming Star Wars standalone film Rogue One is any indication, Felicity Jones' (as yet unnamed) character might soon rise as the most badass member of those ranks. The photo, the first released from the upcoming film, also confirms cast members Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed. Still no word on what roles those actors will be playing, but the tale of Rogue One is one that takes place before Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope and follows a group of, yes, rougues who band together to steal the plans for the Death Star. "It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement…" See here link

The pitch I heard was "Star Wars meets the Dirty Dozen."

Where are the animated teddy bears, and Jar-Jar for the kiddies? Not that I really want to see them. Watched a cartoon of the Star Wars show the other night – can't remember the name, but basically Star Wars Lego characters come to life, and recounting the whole Episodes 1 – 3 in 30 minutes, by C3-PO. Only saw about half of it, but Jar-Jar was zapped by laser fire twice in that short period of time, so perhaps there is hope yet. |

Aaaaaand … the obligatory Bechdel test failure. Oh, sure, there'll probably be minor character for her to talk to. |

Mako11 you can't get rid of Jar Jar Binks no matter what they do to him and I'm glad of that since he's my all time Favorite Star Wars character. I've seen this show as well although it's told by my most hated Star Wars character C3PO or as I call him(or it)the Gold Butler. |

Doesn't look to be a Bothan in sight! Maybe too many of them died to bring us this information? |

No wonder they end up always playing the martyr card in the New Republic, when their role gets left out of documentaries like this ;-) |

Not to be pedantic (okay, maybe I am), but the Bothans died getting the second Death Star plans, not the first. |

"Only saw about half of it, but Jar-Jar was zapped by laser fire twice in that short period of time, so perhaps there is hope yet." Gets my vote then. |

Ghostrunner that may be but Jar Jar Binks is like a Timex watch he takes a licking but keeps on ticking. |

Good thing. No fun if he kicked on the first try. |
Captain Gideon | 22 Aug 2015 3:57 p.m. PST |
Ghostrunner the simple fact is that Jar Jar Binks will be around as long as Star Wars is around and he'll be here with the Ewoks and(groan)that Gold Plated Butler. Either you like him or don't like him you're stuck with him and for me that's a good thing. |
