Hello all,

I've written a preview of the naval ruleset I'm working on. It's nearing completion, far enough to compile a preview of it:

And ofcourse some eye-candy to brighten up the post :D

My British and German demo-fleets, composed partly of repainted Wizard of the coast War at Sea miniatures, Mongoose publishing resin miniatures and Shapeways 3D printed designs. Scale 1/1800

To be followed.

Looks good! You may want to do a trademark lookup on the name, though. Avalon Hill's "Naval War" still hits the table occasionally around here…

Look forward to finding out more.

Sounds like an interesting system, especially for cramped gaming spaces. What's the likely ETA?

Tuppence worth….

Doesn't one have to trade with a mark (and have it registered) to be able to assert IP rights?

Naval War sounds too generic to TM protect, just like space marine..

Ecclesiastes12 Aug 2015 10:44 a.m. PST

I'm not too worried about the name, it is very generic, and the AH game is a cardgame, while this is a miniatures game. There is also a computer game with the same name, so it doesnt matter that much, thats why I went with it.

Mj Kerner, the game is al but finished, together with the Norway 1940 OOB and the Coral Sea OOB, giving access to Japanese, American, British and German lists to start out with. The bottleneck currently is that I'm still fleshing out the Japanese and US Command stations, and that I still havent decided on how to 'publish' it, to make it available on a website or/if I want to charge anything for it etc…

Don't forget you can't copyright a title :)

mjkerner13 Aug 2015 12:25 p.m. PST

Thanks Ecclesiastes. Don't forget you also have to do the OOB, etc., for Dutch East Indies, '41-'42! ;-)

Will these rules be PDF only?

Attackcamel18 Aug 2015 4:12 a.m. PST

Looks like its going to be pretty cool! I'll give them a try if you release them for sale! Do you have an idea how your air/subsurface rules are going to work?

Ecclesiastes18 Aug 2015 8:48 a.m. PST

Hello Steviep, for now I'm just considering PDF. Since its all cottage industry and I want to be able to update the set and stats with regular intervals.

I might put up a preview of the Air and sub rules on my blog Attackcamel, but currently I'm busy with rounding out the US and Japan Command stations.

A beta copy of the rules can be downloaded from the (new) forum. Just sign up and give them a whirl if you like! And remember to leave some feedback ;)
