Have you ever collected a whole range, or an almost entire range, of figures simply because you like the look of them?

I did with Wargames Foundry English Civil War and American War of Independence figures (approx. 80% and 95%) and I seem to be following suit with the Perry AWI figures – approx 70%, to date).

You?

tkdguy09 Aug 2015 11:25 p.m. PST

I haven't. I do have two sets of opposing armies, however: Romans and Germanic tribes for ancients; NATO troops and Spetsnaz for modern.

I have most of the Perry Agincourt to Orleans range. I have about 280 figures. Out of 37 codes, I have 31 codes and some of them multiple times (foot MAA & infantry). I only know this because I was looking at the other codes yesterday to see if I could use them.

I also have a large collection of Perry WOTR and EA. I have a lot of GW LOTR but there are so many different figures, it would be very difficult to get all of them.

Yes, all of the Redoubt Three Musketeers range back in the 90s because I liked them…

Yes, for a few things, e.g. Venexia's Italian Wars in 15mm, various aircraft ranges, one of the Three Musketeers ranges (not Redoubt's), etc..

I was going to say no as why would you, then realised that I have the whole set and some doubles for the Game Pax Bochemannica – so the answer is Yes.

No, because I buy stuff based on what I need to put particular armies together (by and large).

It is of course possible that I have inadvertantly bought an entire range, just because that was what I needed, but it would probably be something fairly niche.

I suspect the MJ Figures Falklands range falls into that category, even though they were awful figures (and I had to supplement them with a fair bit of QRF stuff).

Yes: Companion Miniatures Iberians, Caesarean Romans, Republican Romans and Numidians. The only ones I haven't yet painted are the Republican Romans, and the rest have all seen action, with more to come. I wanted them for our ongoing campaign, you see…

Lucius10 Aug 2015 3:22 a.m. PST

Yes. The old Foundry Republican Roman range, back in the early 90s.

They were my first 25mm army after doing 15mm, and I kind of went overboard.

GiloUK10 Aug 2015 4:29 a.m. PST

Well if you combine the Foundry AWI range and the Perry Miniatures one (on the basis that Alan Perry sculpted both), then that equals 228 packs. Of those 228, there are just 41 packs which I haven't painted yet or don't have waiting in the painting queue. I started off because I liked the look of the figures, but it's developed into my main gaming period since then.

About a year ago, I realized I'd bought all but two packages of the Foundry Vikings range. So, I tacked one package on to each of my next two orders, getting the last package (The Drinking Party) in July, just to complete the range. I don't know what I'm going to do with them: this last is more a diorama set. The passed out guy can be a casualty, and maybe I'll think of some use for the others.
Eventually.

Empress SCW and I use them…..often.

DM

Winston Smith10 Aug 2015 4:46 a.m. PST

Foundry Sea Peoples.
Sold them off though. Don't do Ancients any more.
Same with Redoubt Trojan War range.

Col Durnford10 Aug 2015 5:33 a.m. PST

Since no one has said it yet, Ral Partha colonials.

Salibaba10 Aug 2015 5:43 a.m. PST

I was keeping up with all of the Warlord ECW stuff until last year, then I slacked off. However, that didn't mean I stopped ordering stuff… I just switched gears and bought the whole Conquest French & Indian War range instead :)

I have a bunch of Foundry ranges, they make it easy because you can just buy the collection.

I think I have all of the Perry WOTR stuff.

Have never been able to get a complete GW range though, even though I've come close on many armies!

My lead pile is too big. None of these are painted (making good progress on the FIW stuff though).

Rudysnelson10 Aug 2015 7:00 a.m. PST

Yes, way back in the 1970s, I got every Heritage 15mm miniature pack they produced for Napoleonics.
I also got every pack of Jacobite 15mm napoleon range as they were they only company to do minor countries back then.

back then I came pretty close to getting all of the GHQ microarmor as well as the 15mm first edition Minifig miniatures.

In ancients I got all of the Heritage Ancoients.

Temporary like Achilles10 Aug 2015 7:45 a.m. PST

Chariot miniatures Republican Romans, Miniature Wars Republican Romans… I think I see a pattern here! There are only about 6 packs in each range though, so you'd be hard pressed not to get them all.

GarrisonMiniatures10 Aug 2015 7:56 a.m. PST

Yes. Plus moulds, masters and copyrights. It's in the name really.

Big Red Supporting Member of TMP10 Aug 2015 8:30 a.m. PST

Yes, I have most of the Calpe Prussian line, some 1000+ figures.

Forager10 Aug 2015 10:02 a.m. PST

Yes. I have all of the Thunderbolt Mountain Arthurian range (and duplicates of several!). Really great sculpts and I love that all the main character figures have a mounted and dismounted miniature.

Marc the plastics fan10 Aug 2015 10:21 a.m. PST

Yes. The entire Great Northern Wars range from Zvezda. All 6 boxes of it

NickNorthStar10 Aug 2015 12:05 p.m. PST

I'm with Don, the entire Empress SCW, because I like it, got it all painted (no lead mountain) and I game it.

ESCI and Revell plastic figs I own all of in multiples. Warzone I bought every faction and almost all the packs. 10 High Acw miniatures I bought all the figs in the range. I'm sure there are others.

If I have its only by accident and because I plan to use them to wargame.

14Bore10 Aug 2015 12:56 p.m. PST

A 2nd gen Minifig Prussian run would be my closest but would need to see against the catalog which I have in my computer which is down still.

Rotundo10 Aug 2015 2:48 p.m. PST

Blue Moon Old West line in 15mm, troops, train, buildings, Grassland Tribes… everything.

Howler10 Aug 2015 3:36 p.m. PST

Sevastopol10 Aug 2015 6:46 p.m. PST

All the Zvezda Napoleonics, 100 Yrs War, Samurai, GNW. Great looking figs. May never get around to painting some of them but damn they look nice.
Shame they're no longer being produced.

Attempting all the old school manufacturers' fantasy of sci fi ranges from the 70s on to about the mid 80s……….still got a few to find……

WKeyser10 Aug 2015 8:47 p.m. PST

Yes almost all of the Confrontation range and Clan War, all picked up when the ranges where dropped and gamers where selling really cheap.

The entire range of 1st edition Mighty Armies (Mongoose Publishing era). Not too great a feet since it was just six box sets and twelve blister packs. But I did finally manage to get each box set a second time.

Early morning writer10 Aug 2015 11:03 p.m. PST

15 mm Dixon Indian Mutiny, generally more than one pack of all. Liked them and they are the nucleus of that period in my collection.

ScottS11 Aug 2015 8:55 a.m. PST

With the exception of a couple of unreleased models, I have an example of each of the Sisters of Battle from GW.

IronMike13 Aug 2015 8:45 p.m. PST

Do Legos count? If so, then yes. I collected a complete set of the most recent 'Castle' range, a good portion of them in multiples for army-building purposes…

I think I am coming pretty close with Bob Murch Pulp Figures…

Great War Ace15 Aug 2015 4:13 p.m. PST

I picked up all of Ral Partha's trolls way back when….

DanWW216 Aug 2015 3:30 a.m. PST

All of the West End Games 28mm 'Star Wars' minis; all of the Leading Edge Games 'Terminator' minis (only about four boxed sets in total, but it took me ten years to get the final figure of Dr Silberman loose a few weeks ago); most of the GW 'Lord of the Rings' minis- brought to a halt by the remaining few fetching £100.00 GBP+ for single foot figures at auction.
