A Warhammer 1st Edition Battle Report, inspired by Steve Jackson's Ogre. All 3 parts are up on the blog now! Can you guess who or what the Ogre is? Full post here: link
And now for something completely different! This is an Oldhammer battle report that is inspired by Steve Jackson's Ogre boardgame. For those who dont know Ogre, its about a giant cybernetic tank (the Ogre) that is trying to destroy an enemy HQ defended by a horde of infantry, tanks, missile tanks, artillery, and hovercraft. I played the heck out of the mini pocket game when I was a kid. The basic game was pretty much just a single scenario that my pals and I played over and over again. Everyone had their own strategy and theory of how best to play as or against the Ogre and many a lunch break was occupied with heated discussion over tactics. Playing as the Ogre tank, felt like the 4th of July, in that you had all these weapons and you got to decide which one to light and fire off next. As the defenders, you had all these cannon fodder units, and if you actually damaged the Ogre you had to decide whether you targeted its weapons (to lessen the deathtoll to your troops) or its treads (and slow the Ogre down so it didnt get in firing range of your HQ). In tribute to this great little game, I present this battle report inspired by Ogre. Obviously, no… there is no giant tank in Moria. But what will represent the Ogre? An Ogre? A Dragon? Balrog? Something else? Can you guess what it will be? I will try to drop a hint or two below. Place your bets here folks…
The Orcs show up, they are LOOKING for a good rumble. Full post here: link |

Interesting adaptation. In general, we probably as gamers do not steal ideas from other periods enough for scenarios and other ideas. |

Rwphillipsstl, The Orcs Drift box for 2nd edition was Rorkes Drift of course. Game of Thrones is War of the Roses. But I suppose taking a sci-fi story and adapting to fantasy is unique. Maybe I better do a Dune Battle for Arrakis story in my Moria Project… Mithril Spice must flow! I just thought of something… House Harkonnen is basically House Lannister, they are sexual deviants with alot of money. Its all connected somehow, because of Unified Theory. ;p |

I had been expecting a Warhammer snotling pump wagon on steroids or something. |

Rwphillipsstl, Oh, that is actually a great idea! … but take it a step further… a really massive wagon the size of a Gargant. With Elven sky chariots for GEV hovercraft. Empire Warwagons for Tanks. And for artillery, that Forgeworld Chaos Dwarf cannon on a train, the DREADQUAKE MORTAR. Of course, this would have to be played in a backyard with dozens of each vehicle. Ok, back to reality… |
