Yes, the amazon description seems to indicate it, but the books is really expensive, so it would be nice to hear from those who have it. |

It has info on colonial troops; just 1 page for the Republic of the United Netherlands period and about 5 or 6 pages for the Batavian Republic. Nothing for the Kingdom of Holland. |

Is there any uniform visual reference (pictures) of Revelotionary period Dutch troops? I'd love to see how they looked. |

this might do it – however I don't know for sure, here the text and then the link The uniforms of the Batavian Army recorded in a contemporary illustrated manuscript of a large and important collection. The foremost source of our knowledge of Dutch army uniforms during the Batavian Republic (1795-1806) is an exceptional folio manuscript containing 39 coloured drawings, entitled ‘Bijzondere kledinge der Bataafsche troupes 1802' (Special clothing of the Batavian forces 1802). This manuscript was probably made by J.J. Geenaart, about whom we know nothing, but he was, apparently, an insider. As uniform documentation, the drawings are particularly interesting because in many cases the soldier is shown from both the front and the back. Furthermore, the drawings are very detailed and clearly executed. Genaart was no great master, but the composition, the freshness of the colours and the quality and beauty of the draughtsmanship of the soldier's faces are exceptional, making the drawings a delight to look at. The Army Museum bought this manuscript in 1928 as part link it might be later than 1795?? |
