Not to long ago I started a thread about wild and crazy war game ideas. TMP link It became a rather interesting exchange of ideas. One of my ideas was the following: "This one is Called Better Dead than Red I want to do a pseudo post WW II game with 40K Space Marine painted up in US tank colors and markings in an urban bomb devastated terrain setting (Berlin perhaps). Their opponents are red skinned Space Ork figures with Soviet uniform colors and markings. (Soviet genetic mutation experiments gone wild). I already have several units of Space Marines painted up in the way I have described along with a dreadnought. I thought I would use either Tomorrow's War to create the unit, vehicle, and weapon profiles and given the heroic size of the Space Marine and Orks that 1/48 scale WW II vehicles would be a nice additional touch. Alternate on this idea above is instead of Soviet Space Orks I use the Dreamforge Storm Trooper, who come on we all know these are futuristic WW II Germans." Well now I am thinking I might be able to pull this idea off sometime in the future and I was looking for a suitable tank to give to the Russian Orks. My thoughts were to use something like a KV II 1/48 scale model and do some slight conversion work to give it that other world look like the one pictured below.
Or I could just field it as is. After all it is an alt- WW II setting. What do you think or would you use some other vehicle like an IS 2 or perhaps the more ubiquitous T-34? |

I've done Space Marines in US tank colours. Olive Drab looks much better than Bright Blue on them. Sadly, no pictures, they disappeared long ago. I have also done Space Marines in panzer colours, and I *do* have some pics:
Much nicer than Fluorescent Orange in my opinion. |

I still have the urge to do a Space Marine Pipe Band! |

Nothing is as Orky as a T35. In fact, replace that wretched 76 mm gun turret with a KV-2 turret. That'll show them. |

Punkrabbit those look fantastic! Winston while I would agree a T35 is pretty orky it is too early war. Yes I did just write that. Hey this is alt/weird WWII so maybe an improved T 35 would be in order. If I can find one in 1/48 scale. |

I have copies of pics from a site that featured space marine done in OD green, white stars on the shoulder pads and WWII helmets. I thought that was pretty cool. |

Greylegion that is pretty much what I have done. I will see if I cannot get a photo posted today of my Sons of Merica Space Marines. |
