Fatten him up! grin

Is he injured?

Have you taken him to a wildlife carer?

Injured wild birds should be placed in a box with a lid with airholes cut into it, and left alone in a warm, quiet area until they can be transferred to an experienced carer. Because they can't maintain their body temperature you should place a safe heat source in the box, such as a small, securely sealed bottle of hot water wrapped in a cloth to prevent burns.

It looks like a very nice bird.

Is he pining for the fjords?

What kind of bird is it? Not familiar with that one.

I form of Piper I would think? A shore bird for sure.

Gave some water to an exhausted sparrow or a finch one day during a severe heat wave years ago as it lay on the curbside.

Looks like a Clapper Rail. If you're on the west coast, CA, SF Bay Area, it could be the endangered California Clapper Rail.

Could be, although I've never seen that bird, and I'm in the SF Bay Area.

I saw the headline and thought: "Wow – wargamer gets girlfriend!"

Our cat took up catching birds and bringing them in the house, then letting them go when he got tired of them. We'd have to open the doors and try to shoo them out. This wasn't very pleasant in January here in Colorado.

Good luck with your bird--hope it works out well for him.

there was a yellow bird, with a yellow bill, he landed on my window sill, I drew him in with bits of bread…then I smashed his….oh hey, look at that. I got some more figures to paint…

So one of the reasons that I don't pay Bill any more is that TMP has this ugly habit of eating the text from my posts. Our feathered friend is a Virginia Rail according to the nice young lady at the wildlife center. Should make a full recovery since the cat only took off some flight feathers.
